IJAERD — International Journal of Advance Engineering and Research Development
IJAERD applies ICMJE authorship criteria and uses the CRediT taxonomy for transparent reporting of individual contributions.
1. Criteria for Authorship
An author is one who meets all four of the following criteria, as defined by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). All four criteria must be satisfied — meeting some but not all qualifies for acknowledgement, not authorship.

Substantial Contribution
Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work.

Intellectual Drafting
Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content.

Final Approval
Final approval of the version to be published.

Accountability
Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
⚠ Individuals who do not meet all four criteria should not be listed as authors but may be acknowledged in a dedicated Acknowledgements section with their consent. Technical assistance, data collection without analysis, and provision of funding alone do not qualify for authorship.
2. CRediT Contribution Declarations
Every manuscript must include a CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) statement listing each author's contributions using one or more of the 14 standardised contributor roles. The statement is placed in a dedicated section after the Conclusions.

3. Corresponding Author
One author must be designated as the corresponding author. The corresponding author is responsible for:

Communication with the journal during submission, peer review, and all production stages
➤
Ensuring that all listed authors have read and approved the final manuscript
➤
Providing accurate and current contact and affiliation details
➤
Serving as the long-term contact for the published work, including for post-publication queries, corrections, or data-sharing requests
4. ORCID Identifiers
The corresponding author must register an ORCID identifier and link it to their journal account. All co-authors are strongly encouraged to register and link an ORCID identifier. ORCID identifiers are included in published article metadata and submitted to CrossRef, ensuring persistent attribution.

5. Changes to Authorship
Any change to the authorship list — addition, removal, or change of order — after submission requires a written request addressed to the Editor-in-Chief at editor.ijaerd@gmail.com, including:
➤ A signed letter from all listed authors (including the author being added or removed)
➤ A clear written reason for the requested change
➤ Confirmation that all remaining authors approve the revised list
➤ In case of removal: a statement from the removed author confirming agreement
⚠ After acceptance: Changes are accommodated only in exceptional circumstances and may delay publication. After publication, changes to authorship are handled as a formal correction or, in rare cases, a retraction, in line with COPE guidance.
6. Ghost, Gift & Guest Authorship
Ghost Authorship ✖
An individual who meets all four ICMJE authorship criteria is omitted from the author list. This is not permitted under any circumstances.
Gift Authorship ✖
An individual who does not meet the criteria is listed as an author as a courtesy — for example, a head of department who did not contribute to the work.
Guest Authorship ✖
A senior or prominent figure is listed as an author without contribution, solely for their name or reputation.
Where evidence of any of these practices is found, the journal follows the relevant COPE flowcharts for resolution, including the possibility of correction, retraction, or notification of the authors' institutions.
7. AI Tools & Authorship
Artificial intelligence tools, including large language models, do not satisfy the four ICMJE authorship criteria and must not be listed as authors or co-authors under any circumstances. AI tools cannot take responsibility for a manuscript's content, cannot give final approval, and cannot be accountable for the work.
Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of the manuscript, including any portion produced with AI assistance. Disclosure of substantive AI use is required — see the AI Use Policy for Authors.
