Stone polishing work is an integral part of the construction sector. Hand-held polishing machine often resultsin excessive hand-arm vibration (HAV) and manual effort. To overcome these problems, a new design wasconceptualised, developed, and validated. This study aims to evaluate the effect of a new handle on the transmissibility ofHAV and muscle activities during polishing activity. 13 experienced participants involved in polishing activities wereselected in this interventional field experiment. Tool handles (existing and modified) were taken as the independentvariables, while electromyography and HAV values were considered as dependent variables. The vibration level wasmeasured at the handle and wrist for both existing and modified stone polishing machine. The result showed that themuscle strength for operating the modified stone polishing machine was less than the existing stone polishing machine.
