Abstract
This paper introduces a power flow controller FACTS device called UNIFIEDPOWER FLOW CONTROLLER (UPFC). In this paper the basic construction, operatingprinciple and operating modes are explained. UPFC can control both real and reactive powerindependently at the sending end and receiving end of the transmission line.
