The review was undertaken to investigate the feasibility of bamboo and FRP reinforced concrete as an alternative solution against industrially available but costly retrofitting or strengthening solutions for damaged structures. The use of small diameter whole bars and split bamboo has frequently been proposed as an alternative to relatively expensive reinforcing steel in reinforced concrete. Feasibility of bamboo wrap jacketing as a FRP wrapping is very useful to develop an ecosystem towards low cost construction. Bamboo is significantly durable, good strength and environmental friendly material for construction. The types and properties of FRP composites are abridged, its applications and evolution of FRP sheets, FRP bars, FRP grids are discussed in this paper. This paper covers a review on various wrapping solutions having eco-friendly yet sturdy solutions in the domain of FRP strengthening and its response in terms properties of flexural performance and ductility is discussed to former a boarder outlook towards cost effective retrofitting or strengthening solutions.
