Abstract

In the handover concept blocking a new call is more advisable than the droping a connection
after it has already begun. There are several ne w multime dia applications are ava ilable no w, so it beco mes
more important that wirele ss networks satisfy Qo S require ments. We have to use efficient handover
prioritization schemes to improve the network performance when user is switching between the access
service network. Some advance schemes are discussed that have common characteristic reducing the call
dropping probability at the expense of increased call blocking probability. In the adaptive bandwidth
allocation sch e me, when an availab le bandwidth is low, the sche me release s so me bandwidth fro m the
already ad mitted non rea l time ca lls for handling new a n d handover ca lls. But the proble m is that all the
users are treated in the same way. So as a proposed work we extend the multilevel band width allocation
sche me with priority. So mechan ism propo ses a n order in which the band width is taken fro m the non-real
time call for g iving to ha ndover calls as a h igh priority to handover ca ll.
