Planning for storm water management should be done considering the entire upstream drainage area, including basin characteristics (size, vegetation, land use and topography), runoff conditions (the rate and amount ofrunoff, and water quality), existing and future development, actual and proposed alterations to natural drainage patternsand return flows to streams. The need for in-ground storm water infrastructure and measures to control storm waterquality and quantity should be assessed considering both the incremental and total effects of changes in development onthe drainage basin. Here the warm use of ArcGIS software to analyse urban flood scenarios and suggest storm water drainage system inEast zone of Ahmedabad.
