Abstract

Information security is a rising concern today in this era of the internet. HoneyPots are fake computerSystems which appears vulnerable to attack though it actually prevents access to valuable sensitive data andadministrative controls. A well designed and developed Honeypot provide data to the research community to study issuesin network security like Internet worms, Zero-day attacks, spam control, DoS attacks, etc. In this paper we present adetailed overview on Honeypot technology.We examine different Types of Honeypots, Honeypot concepts andapproaches in order to determine how we can intend measures to enhance security using these technologies.
