There has been a keen interest onDistributed Generation (DG) due to theirrestricted goals of meeting local loads andimproving reliability of the overall system.Micro grids (MGs) are connected to the maingrid through a Point of Common Couplingwhich separates the former from the latter. Atthe time of an intentional islanding or fault atthe grid level, a MicroGrid is able to disconnectitself from the rest of the grid and operate byitself. A MicroGrid may contain both directlyconnected and inverter interfaced sources withdifferent control configurations. Whendisconnected or islanded from the main gridthere are various approaches to share the load, one of them being master-slave control where astorage device may become the reference DG toset the nominal voltage and frequency. Whenthe main grid is brought back to normaloperation, the MicroGrid is able toresynchronize itself to the main grid only whenit meets certain conditions so as to avoidtransients. All the microsources, powerelectronics and their control with powermanagement were developed inMatlab/Simulink.
