Abstract

Design of PSC multi-cell box girder iscarried out by considering the data of existing bridge. The analysis is carried out by preparing a bridge modelin SAP2000. Using the analysis value of same modeldesign of box carried out. For the design of deck slab, separate model is created by considering different IRCclass loadings. Then pre-stressing force is found out tocounteract deformation due to dead load considering allthe loss calculation. At last different checks are carriedout to check the serviceability of structure. The need for conservation of important constructionmaterial like steel has motivated divergent thinkingamongst Engineers. Pre-stressed Metal Structures haveproved to be economical as compared to normal MetalStructures and many such structures have been existingin Europe and USA.Comparison of losses in pre-stressing is donebetween PSC multi-cell box girder and Pre-stressedsteel plate girder to check the economy.
