It is expected that 5G technology will be operational by 2020. Therefore it is important to know thedirection of research and developments enabling 5G technology. This paper provides first a overview of 5G technologywhich is mainly includes a requirement and needs and second part provides a comprehensive analysis of recentdevelopmental endeavors toward 5G in which mainly highlights are silent features such as flexibility, accessibility, andcloud-based service offerings, those are going to ensure the futuristic mobile communication technology as the dominantprotocol for global communication.
