Heat exchangers are devices that have been used for transferring heat from one medium to anothermedium. In the present study the thermal performance and pressure drop of the helical-coil heat exchanger withand without helical crimped fins are studied. The heat exchanger consists of tube in tube unit with two differentcoil diameters. The inner tube diameter is 10mm and the outer tube diameter is 25mm. The hot water enters inthe inner tube of heat exchanger and the cold water enters in outer tube. Heat transfer characteristics inside ahelical coil for various boundary conditions are compared. The effects of the inlet conditions of both workingfluids flowing through the test section on the heat transfer characteristics are discussed.
