The effect of thiosemicarbazone on hydrogen permeation and corrosion inhibition of aluminium alloys in alkalinemedium has been studied using weight loss and various electrochemical corrosion monitoring techniques. Correlation of thestructural changes with the protection efficiency of ApTSCN, SaTSCN, 2meTSCN with the parent TSC was reported. Thecompound brings down corrosion of aluminum alloys in alkaline medium. Electrochemical polarization measurementsindicate that thiosemicarbazones perform as mixed-type inhibitor. The extent of hydrogen permeation current throughaluminium alloys surfaces has been studied by the adoption of modified devanathan-stachurki’s two component cell method.
